Dunedin's Location
Dunedin is the principal seaport in the lower half of New Zealand's South Island. It has a population of 134,600, making it New Zealand's seventh largest city. Most (86.6%) of Dunedin's inhabitants are of European descent, and 9.3% identify themselves as Mäori, New Zealand's indigenous population (NZ Census, 2018). Dunedin contains the world's southernmost university, the University of Otago within which the DMHDRU is located.
