Dunedin's Location
Dunedin is the principal seaport in the lower half of New Zealand's South Island. It has a population of 120,000, making it New Zealand's eighth largest city. Most (87%) of Dunedin's inhabitants are of European descent, and 6.4% identify themselves as Mäori, New Zealand's indigenous population (NZ Census, 2006). Dunedin contains the world's southernmost university, the University of Otago within which the DMHDRU is located.
