Jesse is studying for a PhD part-time, and is based at the Research Unit for his studies. Jesse is a statistician who works for the Ministry of Health, and has a special interest in mental health and the Pacific community. His research focuses on mental illness among Pacific people in New Zealand and their use of mental health services. It draws on data from two studies that he has access to through his work: Te Rau Hinengaro: the New Zealand Mental Health Survey and New Zealand's National Mental Health Service dataset (MHINC/PRIMHD). Fiona trained as a Clinical Psychologist many years ago and whilst no longer working as a clinician, still finds psychology very absorbing. To this end, Fiona wants to develop a research career and is currently doing an MSc as step one in her aim to complete a PhD. Her MSc involves writing up the results of the talents and achievements questionnaire administered at Assessment Phase 32.

Graham is doing his Masters on amblyopia (ie lazy eye) outcomes using Dunedin Study data. He is an ophthalmologist working at Gisborne Hospital and also in private practice. He is also an honorary fellow of the University of Otago. He has sub-specialty training in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus from the UK and Canada. He is a member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Australian and NZ Paediatric Special Interest Group, and teaches paediatric ophthalmology for the University of Otago Diploma of Child Health.
